🐲 Learn what you need to eat, what you need to do, how you need to decorate, what you need to wear, and more to make sure you usher in a lucky, joyous, and prosperous new year!

🐲 In the box, receive everything you need in terms of planner products to create your Lunar New Year planner or journaling spreads, decorations and homeware to prepare your home, and accessories to complete your outfit for the new year!

This is our fifth annual Lunar New Year Advent Calendar, and it remains my favorite thing I design all year. Join me in celebrating my favorite holiday growing up and the most important holiday in Chinese culture! 

IMPORTANT NOTES

• SHIPPING: Shipping will be a flat $10USD for the first box for U.S. addresses ($5 each box after); $15 for the first box for international addresses ($5 for each box after). Advent boxes will ship in mid-December, but we unfortunately cannot guarantee arrival by Christmas. We will prioritize international shipments first. In 2024, the first day of the new lunar year falls on Feb 10 and the advent starts on Feb 2, so you should receive your advent with plenty of time.
• NOTES: Make sure you only have advent calendars in your cart. You CAN order multiple calendars in one order! There is NO per person box limit. 

Q&A

1. What is Lunar New Year?
Lunar New Year is the start of a new year in the Chinese lunisolar calendar and is celebrated in Asian communities worldwide. In China, festivities last for 15 days, which is why our advent calendar is 15 days! This year, New Year’s Day is February 10, 2024 and our advent will start 8 days before on February 2 and end 5 days after! (Day 1, you can open as soon as you receive your box.)

2. How does a Lunar New Year Advent Calendar work?
Starting a week before Lunar New Year's Day, you'll open up one item every day for 15 days that will pay tribute to a different Lunar New Year tradition or ritual and learn a little bit about the history & meaning behind the tradition. Together, we'll discover what we need to eat, to do, to wear and more to make sure we usher in a lucky and prosperous new Year Of The Dragon!

3. Oooh okay, well, what's IN the advent? 
There will be a huge variety of products!! There will be planner items, home goods, accessories, and more. You'll find a lot of the items that you know and love currently in our shop (like stickers, washi, enamel), as well as a variety of products that have never been seen before and will ONLY ever be in the advent. ;)

4. I want to see!!
It's a surprise!! While this year's box will remain a secret until you open it and the items will be different from previous years 😉 you can take a look at all of our boxes from 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 to get a sense of the variety of products by joining our Facebook group and navigating to the photo albums! You can also watch our saved Instagram video walkthrough of the previous year's boxes and to hear the upgrades we've made to this one!

5. If my family doesn't celebrate Lunar New Year, is this still for me?
Yes!! If you love learning about different cultures, if you love the Dimsum Steam Team, if you love the thought of having a new present to open every day in the middle of dreary winter, this is for you. Whether you grew up celebrating or are totally new to the holiday, you'll learn something you didn't know before, you'll receive a ton of fun, exclusively designed products, and you'll join a worldwide community of dimsum lovers celebrating as we all open our advents together in February 2024. :)

6. Can I open the box with my kids?
Absolutely! The products themselves are not geared towards kids, but many parents and teachers have said that they and their little ones had a lot of fun opening their advent calendars and learning about each day's traditions together!

7. How different is this box from previous year's boxes?
I vary what goes into each box so that both new and old customers will be surprised! Each year has both new designs and new products, although we may have some of the same TYPES of products (like stickers and washi)! I know I always say the upcoming year’s advent is the best yet—but I truly think the upcoming year has the BEST products yet! Val (who is a dragon) would say, obviously - it IS the best year. 

8. Will any items come to the shop individually?
Unlike previous years, only some items will come to the shop individually! Day 1, which has everything you need to decorate your planner and is meant to be opened when you receive your box, will come to the shop in early January. Select items from days 2 to 15 will come to the shop on February 17, 2024 (after Lunar New Year).
