This is our sixth annual Lunar New Year Advent Calendar, and it remains my favorite thing I design all year. Join me in celebrating my favorite holiday growing up and the most important holiday in Chinese culture!

• SHIPPING: Shipping will be a flat $10USD for the first box for U.S. addresses ($5 each box after); $15 for the first box for international addresses ($5 for each box after). Presale boxes will ship in mid-December 2024.

1. What is Lunar New Year?
Lunar New Year is the start of a new year in the Chinese lunisolar calendar and is celebrated in Asian communities worldwide. In China, festivities last for 15 days, which is why our advent calendar is 15 days! This year, New Year’s Day is January 29, 2025 and our advent will start 15 days before on January 15, 2025!

2. How does a Lunar New Year Advent Calendar work?
Starting 15 days before Lunar New Year's Day, you'll open up one item every day for 15 days that will pay tribute to a different Lunar New Year tradition or ritual and learn a little bit about the history & meaning behind the tradition. Together, we'll discover what we need to eat, to do, to wear and more to make sure we usher in a lucky and prosperous new Year Of The Dragon!

3. Oooh okay, well, what's IN the advent? 
There will be a huge variety of products!! There will be planner items, home goods, accessories, and more. You'll find a lot of the items that you know and love currently in our shop (like stickers, washi, enamel), as well as a variety of products that have never been seen before and will ONLY ever be in the advent. ;)

4. I want to see!!
It's a surprise!! While this year's box will remain a secret until you open it and the items will be different from previous years 😉 you can take a look at all of our boxes from 2020 (Rat), 2021 (Ox), 2022 (Tiger), 2023 (Rabbit), and 2024 (Dragon) to get a sense of the variety of products by joining our Facebook group and navigating to the photo albums! You can also watch our saved Instagram video walkthrough of the previous year's boxes and to hear the upgrades we've made to this one!

5. If my family doesn't celebrate Lunar New Year, is this still for me?
Yes!! If you love learning about different cultures, if you love the Dimsum Steam Team, if you love the thought of having a new present to open every day in the middle of dreary winter, this is for you. Whether you grew up celebrating or are totally new to the holiday, you'll learn something you didn't know before, you'll receive a ton of fun, exclusively designed products, and you'll join a worldwide community of dimsum lovers celebrating as we all open our advents together in January 2025. :)

6. Can I open the box with my kids?
Absolutely! The products themselves are not geared towards kids, but many parents and teachers have said that they and their little ones had a lot of fun opening their advent calendars and learning about each day's traditions together!

7. How different is this box from previous year's boxes?
I vary what goes into each box so that both new and old customers will be surprised! Each year has both new designs and new products, although we may have some of the same TYPES of products (like stickers and washi)! I know I always say the upcoming year’s advent is the best yet—but I truly think the upcoming year has the BEST products yet! ALSO: when you order during this year’s presale, you’ll receive a freebie Year Of The Snake magnet that won’t be available anywhere else!

8. Will any items come to the shop individually?
Unlike previous years, very, very few items will come to the shop individually! Day 1, which has the stickers you need to decorate your planner, will come to the shop in mid-January. Then, any leftover stock from days 2 to 15 will come to the shop AFTER New Year’s Day.
